I'm here, I'm here! Glad you are too! There seems to be a different crowd on Substack- thankfully. So as you answer the questions and reveal your fabulous tips for healthy poultry-keeping AND your favorite ways to use those luscious eggs- I think we will all be so happy!
Hello Lisa! I've been following you for several years and am new to Substack because of you. We'll be learning about this platform together. I'm in the process of editing my social media and deciding what to keep and what to let go of. So much more stress with most of the platforms now, so I'm ready for a smaller social media presence.
I hear you. I don't enjoy social media at all any more. I am completely over Facebook, I used to like Instagram but even that has become noisy, all ads, "influencers" pushing products they have likely never even tried...so we'll see how this goes. I love my blog but of course that's not "social". I had to turn off comments years ago because of all the spam.
We adopted our backyard baker’s dozen when our neighbors moved and didn’t want to take them. Well, they wanted four but somehow never came back for them. Learning on the fly has been so much easier with all your info! In one year, we’ve become a happy (I hope they are!!) and healthy (we make tasty eggs!!) little backyard flock! Looking forward to this new platform ❤️🐓
This already seems so much better, lol. Your post is just here and not lost! I grew up on a hobby farm with chickens. Now, at 56, I dove in last spring. I have a flock of 11 and they have definitely benefited from me following you, reading your books, and us enjoying your recipes. We appreciate it 🙏 and ❤️
I hope this does end up being more of what you want. I have followed you for quite a few years now, and yes FB ended up becoming something else. New to Substack as well, only here because you are!!
I Actually ditched FB all together, I am sure you share the same issues with it as I do. I never heard of this place, and now I am interested in learning more. Just signed in this morning for the first time. Good morning All, and have a beautiful day!
Hi there. I bought 4 gallon glass jars and grew the legume seeds you recommended. They look just like your photo for chicken snacks but my chickens won’t eat them. Any suggestions ?
Oh chickens can be picky. And suspicious of new things. Mix them into a big bowl of lettuce or other things they like and see if they’ll eat them that way.
I think I signed up correctly. The process was a bit confusing. Kept asking me to sign-in with my password, then when I tried to create an account, it kept telling me "this email is already in use." HUH ??? Do I need a username and password for this SUBSTACK thing or not ?? ALSO, is COOP-TO-KITCHEN merging over to this SUBSTACK platform, as well? Thanks, Lisa. . . . . Cheers, John
Hmmm... I am brand new as well. I have NO idea. I guess ask for password help. Maybe you signed in a long time ago? Weird.
I am not moving either blog over. And I'll keep sending my regular FED and Coop to Kitchen eblasts sharing recipes, seasonal tips and new blog posts from both.
Substack will be entirely separate. Just on Sundays.
Yes! I agree. I will continue posting to Instagram, and pushing some stuff over to Facebook. But I don't spend any time on Facebook per se. This will just replace my Sunday email...I'm leaving the other recipes, chicken tips, etc. on my original email platform for now (prettier templates, easier to use, etc.) It's all very confusing on the back end, but hopefully will make sense for you - and everyone else!
I hope so. Social media is just so stressful. And of course my blog is always there for browsing. But this seems more personal.

Let's hope so!

I appreciate that. There'sa learning curve, but we'll see how it goes.

It's definitely a learning curve... but I'm excited to move away from the hate and noise of social media.
So happy to see you here!
It's been a bit of a learning curve, but so far so good I think.
It’s always wonderful to continue learning! I always appreciate your guidance!
It’s good to keep learning!!! Good for you!

I agree. It's very loud and stressful. Angry.... and there's SO much bad info on it. I think the texting idea is a great one!
