So here we are. I, of course, had heard about Substack, and started following a few people several months ago just to get an idea of what it was all about. At that point, I had no intention of starting my own Substack.
But over the weekend as I was writing my weekly Sunday post over on my other newsletter platform Flodesk, I thought… why not give Substack a try? My Sunday post tends to be more personal, less business. A sort of insider look into what I’ve been up to. And Substack seemed to be the right place to share.
So here we are.
Those of you who follow me on Facebook are probably aware that my frustration with the platform has just kept growing over the years. The ads, porn, bots, trolls, memes noise has just gotten out of control. I even tried starting a Facebook group, but that sort of fizzled. I miss the old days when I recognized all of your names, and we actually were a community.
So that’s what I hope to cultivate here on Substack. A community. So please feel free to share and comment, let’s reconnect in a much more, dare I say it “mindful and demure” way. I’ll tell you about my week and hopefully some of you will stick around and tell me about yours! I’m not terribly interesting, but it is what it is.
All of that to say, I’m probably nuts to add something else to my plate right now. I’m supposed to be turning in the recipes for my next cookbook next month, and working on a re-issue of one of my older chicken books (yay!). I’m also working on getting funding for a new season of my TV show.
Well that’s about it for now. I will see you here every Sunday (this was supposed to go out last night, but I accidentally deleted my first attempt after I had scheduled it!)
p.s. I’m glad you’re here!

I hope so. Social media is just so stressful. And of course my blog is always there for browsing. But this seems more personal.
I'm here, I'm here! Glad you are too! There seems to be a different crowd on Substack- thankfully. So as you answer the questions and reveal your fabulous tips for healthy poultry-keeping AND your favorite ways to use those luscious eggs- I think we will all be so happy!
