I love playing Cribbage. Our grandfather taught me and my siblings to play 60+ years ago, along with about every card game that I know. I so enjoyed your photo playing the game, sitting on the floor, which is exactly how we generally end up playing it. We grew up in Iowa, and a fair number people play cribbage there. I despair that so many home games that allowed us to spend time with family and friends have lost popularity to video games and streaming apps. I love your Friday plans - Friday has always been our family night for homemade pizza when our girls were growing up, now my husband and I do other meals, but usually simple ones for those nights.
Oh I'm a big floor sitter! My mom was and still is too. I hope that family nights don't go away forever. They're one of my favorite fun childhood, although we played a lot of Monoploy, which I hate!
Yes, my husband is Finnish so we've used a sauna both in CA where we used live and in Finland on our honeymoon. My dad and I used to play cribbage when I was a kid. He was a Marine. Haven't played in years, but recently played backgammon when our daughter was home for Christmas. Fun and relaxing.
Now I'm curious about Cribbage! And I have longed for a sauna since I tried it at a gym that belonged to back a long time ago. Alas, I have not gotten hubby on board- yet. (Same with a jacuzzi bath tub) Hmmm. I like the idea of a Friday ritual! Mine used to be wine and pizza with a movie but I like your ideas better!
Oh yes! Buy yourself a cribbage board and teach yourself how to play. It's great because you can play with 2, 3 or 4 people. I'm so trying to get my husband on board with the sauna idea.
Love this idea and love cribbage! My hubbie and I play and now my son and I as well - usually while enjoying a craft brew somewhere (yes we live in a place with brew pubs that often have cribbage boards) 💕
I would love a Sauna! My husband is a Yooper. Lots of people up in Michigan's upper peninsula (the UP) where he grew up have saunas. He promised me one but we have nowhere to put it. By the way, he loved your post about being in Finland when you were younger. He said it made him cry remembering things from his own childhood. Lots of people in the UP have Finnish heritage (my husband being one of them) so some of the things you mentioned he also did growing up. Also, Finland is not a Scandinavian country. Even Yoopers will correct people when they say that. For some reason they are very sensitive about that. I'm a northern Hoosier so I can't relate! Anyway, hope you get your sauna!
I know that technically Finland isn't a Scandinavian country, but it doesn't fit anywhere! The language is so different than Swedish and Norwegian, but it's location makes it make sense that it would be considered Scandinavia!
They have both indoor and outdoor saunas now, some are pretty pricey, but the more I think about it, the more I like the idea!
My husband taught me to play cribbage...when our kids were younger we would play in teams...good arithmatic skills! My husband is Finnish (half) and their Friday or Saturday nights were spent at the sauna.

Ooh I like backgammon too!
Well I need to know where these craft breweries are!

Nice! You've got this cozy thing down then!
